Chair Yoga

Yoga to start in June,
In our classes we will explore chair yoga and mindfulness in a lighthearted, curious way. The benefits of the session include stress reduction, full body relaxation, improved sleep, digestion, immunity and posture. I have included, below, a little piece about what to expect. The yoga class will include postural awareness and an all-over feel-good stretch, suitable for most bodies. However, if anyone has any injuries or limitations please get a Doctor’s blessing before practicing yoga. I always suggest modify any movements for comfort and ease. It’s fine to leave something out. I’ll be encouraging everyone to move in their own way.
It can be helpful for us to have a focus, or a theme, for the practice; for this class our theme is Grounding.
Grounding ~ exploring stability, steadiness and ease in body and mind.
What to expect:
15 minutes seated for posture awareness, breathwork and meditation. (Seated on a chair.)
15 minutes moving your body, stretching and releasing tension. (Your choice to remain seated or to stand up for a bigger stretch.)
15 minutes seated or lying down for a guided body scan. (Please bring a yoga mat or large beach towel to lie on or remain seated in your chair.)
At the end we’ll have a choice about whether we would like to share a little about the experience before we say goodbye.
Please bring:
A yoga mat or a large towel to lie on.
Warm layers for your personal comfort.
Please wear:
Loose clothing you can move in. Warm layers for relaxation. Yoga and mindful movement is normally done in socks or barefoot.
